Diagnosis Original diagnosis by Malmgren (1867: 52): "Tentacula longitudinem lobi cephalici aequantia. Palpi cylindrici articulo terminale ovato magno, longitudinem lobi cephalici superantes. Cirri tentaculares sat longi filiformes, longissimi latitudinem corporis ter quaterve aequantes. Oculi magni, antici ovales majores quam postici subrotundati. Maxillae tota acie 12—13 dentata, apice nigrescente paullum tortae versus basin pellucidae. Paragnathi coadnati pectines minutos formantes, ita dispositos ut in nostra fig. 25 A. Lingulae rami superioris conicae acuminatae segmentis 5—9 exceptis lingulis brevibus crassis rotundatis obtusis praeditis. Cirri dorsuales lingulam supremam bis, in segmentis posticis ter aequantes. Cirri ventrales lingula infima paullum breviores. Color in spiritu albidus vei fulvo-flavescens. Longit. in albis speciminibus ovulis impletis 50—60 m.m., latit. 5—6 m.m. cum pedibus sine setis; saepissime multo minor colore fulvo. Mire polymorpha species."
