Type species Although Lühe (1901) designated Lecithaster bothryophorus (Olss.) as the type-species. This was based on Looss' (1899) misidentifcation (and mis-spelling) of Distoma botryophoron Olsson, 1868 (as Hemiurus bothryophorus), which was later made the type-species of Lecithophyllum. Odhner (1911) aptly renamed the Looss/Lühe conception as Lecithaster confusus. [details]
