Diagnosis Test free or may inhabit empty foraminiferal tests or worm tubes, elongate, straight, or convoluted, 1.6 mm to 19.0 mm in length; wall smooth, transparent, whitish to pale red, may have some agglutinated material, intermittant constrictions may occur; temporary small apertures at ends of test; cytoplasm opaque, containing oil droplets, one or more nuclei, pseudopodia reticulose; sexual reproduction with biflagellate gametes that develop within test of uninucleate gamont following temporary closure of apertures; schizont multinucleate, reproducing by fission.
