Year of description 1884, placed in family Asteriidae, type species Coronaster brisingoides Perrier, 1884 (?=Coronaster parfaiti Perrier, 1885) by monotypy in Rowe & Gates, 1995. According to Mah & Clark (2001), C. brisingoides is a nomen nudum, probably a synonym of C. briareus [details]
