Taxonomy Albatrossaster is a substitute name for Albatrossia Ludwig, 1905, to avoid confusion with Albatrossa (Aves), so with the same type species: Albatrossia semimarginalis Ludwig, 1905, but amended unjustified since one letter differences suffices to validate Albatrossia; see H.L. Clark 1920: 81. Both genus-group names are synonyms of Porcellanaster Wyville Thomson, 1877 since Albatrossia semimarginalis is a synonym of P. ceruleus Thomson 1877 according to Madsen (1961). UPDATED.. Albatrossia and Albatrossaster referred to synonymy of Caulaster by Mironov et al. (2023) [details]
