Status Mortensen (1943: footnote on p. 26) states that: " Agassiz [1872-74: p. 123] and Bell [1892: p. 152] enumerate also Ech[inus] subangulosus Lamarck as a synonym of Ech[inus] esculentus. Since this species is based on Leske's Tab. II. A-B, which is green, and is described as having the pores arranged in tree parallel vertical series, it is clear that it is not Ech[inus] esculentus, whatever it be. [...]" [details]
