Etymology Not stated. Light (1980 thesis) also did not give a derivation. Meta in Greek means 'after' as in subsequent in sequence (as in metacarpal), or means 'change of'. The name implies some comparison with Asychis, although Light (1991) only mentions the similar posterior funnel-like 'pockets' of Asychis and Metasychis. The five new combinations he creates were all at the time in genus Asychis, so their transfer to Metasychis is truly subsquent in taxonomic placement. [details]

Etymology Not stated. Light (1980 thesis) also did not give a derivation. Meta in Greek means 'after' as in subsequent in sequence (as in metacarpal), or means 'change of'.
