Etymology The generic name Halla is derived from the Greek mythology, and refers to the Nereid (sea-nymph) normally known as Halia ot Halie, one of the fifty daughters of Nereus and the Oceanid Doris: "Questo anellide formar deve il tipo di un genere distinto, che per lo quale si propone il nome di Halla, Ninfa marina figlia di Nereo e di Doride" (Costa, 1844: 63). [details]
