Day (1967: 735) refers Terebella venustula Montagu, 1818 as being the type species, but this is not correct. Most authors use Terebella zostericola as the type species (e.g.: Fauchald, 1977: 132; Holthe, 1986: 122; Nogueira et al., 2015: 490). [details]
