Nomenclature The identity of Dodecaceria concharum, and related taxa, and the validity of certain names, has been argued extensively for decades, most recently centered around an application by Gibson & Heppell (1995) to the ICZN to establish a neotype from outside the known type locality (Denmark). This was strongly opposed by some taxonomists (see for example summary in Blake (1996:371). The ICZN Opinion 2019 (2003) eventually declined the application. Very recently Gibson (2015) has continued with his interpretation, ending by stating that the Gibson & Heppell neotype is deposited at Nat Mus Scotland. However, any status this specimen has seems doubtful as the article introduction acknowledges that the ICZN declined to allow this interpretation (requiring a neotype from outside type locality) in 2003. [details]
