Nomenclature Brada incrustata is a new name of Støp-Bowitz for an incorrect identification of Malmgren's as Rathke's Brada inhabilis. However, the 'nomen novum' naming of Brada incrustata by Støp-Bowitz, 1948 was interpreted by Salazar-Vallejo (2017: 15) as a mistaken homonymy replacement for the name Brada inhabilis as used by Malmgren, 1867. However, this is a incorrect interpretation. No homonymy is involved. Støp-Bowitz was well aware that Malmgren had used Brada inhabilis of Rathke, 1843, but he knew this must have been a misidentification, as Malmgren in the same work had newly named Brada granulata Malmgren, which is a junior synonym of B. inhabilis. Støp-Bowitz considered the usages of Malmgren (and others) required a new name for the species recorded as it wasn't B. inhabilis [details]
