Seventy-seven species of hydroids, including six new species, were recorded from reefs at the Archipelago of the Recherche, Western Australia, and from shallow water reefs, seagrass meadows and beach drifted algae along the adjacent Esperance. The ranges of 23 southern Australian species are extended westwards across the Great Australian Bight and Cuspidella costata is newly recorded from Australia. Twenty-four species were epiphytic, 24 epizoic on other hydroids, 6 occurred on sponges, 14 occurred on other invertebrates, and 17 species were epilithic.
