Taxonomy The type species of Stylissa, S. flabelliformis, was found to be close to Scopalina in a recent molecular study (see Redmond et al. 2013). However, other species assigned to Stylissa do not end up in the same clade as Scopalina and thus the genus appears to be polyphyletic. We will await a forthcoming revision of Stylissa before redistributing the species of Stylissa.  [details]
