Authority Some authors quote authority as Bowerbank, 1861 [details]Reproduction The morphology of the egg and the formation of the larva in Polymastia
robusta Bowerbank are described. The larva is a flattened blastula, formed of equal
and flagellated blastomeres; it lives on the bottom and glides actively on its
flattened side. The metamorphosis and the differentiation of the cells are long
delayed. The first differentiatcd cells are those of the basal and marginal
epithelium [details]
Taxonomy This combination was already used by Bowerbank in 1862 and 1864, but he did not provide a proper description and as such these are nomina nuda. Only in 1866 did he provide a proper description and thus authorship and year is Bowerbank, 1866. [details]
