Type locality Translated from Italian: I found this species in a sand very rich in plant debris and small animal species, in Posillipo, in the Cenito district, about three meters deep, where also Amphioxus lives. In this same sand also lives Heterodrilus arenicolus Pierant. [details]
Type material According to Prof. P. Omodea in Padova, Italy (personal communication), who was a student of Pierantoni, there is no material left from the activities of the latter in Stazione Zoologica di Napoli; the institute was badly damaged during World War II. Brinkhurst (1966) also failed to trace museum material of any of the species described by Pierantoni from Naples. I, therefore, conclude that the type series of Limnodriloides appendiculatus is lost.
