Spelling Audouin & Milne Edwards (1833, 240 & 242) used 'Lombrineris' for both species they described (as Lombrineris d'Orbignyi and L. latreilli, although for the preceding genus description they used 'Lumbrineris'. For the species they give an informal French spelling followed by an italicised Latin name for which they use 'Lombrineris'. This spelling is recorded here to show that editors are aware of the variant. The variants Lumbrinereis and Lumbriconereis are also regarded as spelling changes rather than different genera. This is accepted practice for this genus; see for example Carrera-Parra (2001: 600) [details]
