Taxonomy The taxonomic status of Notholca jugosa Gosse relative to N. squamula (Müller) and N. acuminata (Ehrenberg) requires clarification. It has been regarded as a distinct species by Kutikova (1970:622)and Lair & Koste (1984), but as a synonym of N. squamula by Koste (1978:123), or a ?variety of N. acuminata by Koste & Zhuge (1998:214)._x000d_
