Classification The genus Proxenetes was subdivided into several subgenera by Ax (1971) based on morphology. In 1978 (p.234), Karling more or less suggests to keep the genus undivided. In later literature and descriptions the subgenera are hardly mentioned, so here the all species are listed in a undivided genus Proxenetes, and the subgenera are (provisionally) marked as "unaccepted" [details]
