Taxonomy Sollas (1888: 260) examined a type slide donated by Selenka to Percival Wright, who made it available to Sollas. His description of the spicules confirms Thiele's (1900) redescription of another type slide as belonging to Tethya. There are no triaenes and no sterrasters. The shape of the sponge depicted by Selenka is a typical Tethya. [details]
