New combination A new combination made by Rathke (1843) for Amphitrite volutacornis, although later taxonomists agree that Rathke described a specimen which was not the species Montagu had named. See Augener (1912: 188 for the details. Augener placed the specimen as a Chone. In other words Rathke made a misidentification, and this has complicated subsequent work to assign Montagu's species to a sabellid genus. [details]
