Taxonomic remark Midelburg (1908) introduced the name Otomesostomatinae as a subfamily of Monocelididae (see p. 104–105). Was first time used as Otomesostomatidae at the family level by Steinböck (1925). Following Article 50.3.1 of the ICZN, the authorship of both names (Otomesostomatidae and Otomesostomatinae) is Midelburg (1908). However, later the name Otomesostomidae was used by Bresslau (1933) and several later authors. Otomesostomidae is grammatically correct. Timoshkin et al. (2010) mention this in a footnote (p.861). As both names were introduced before 1994, Art. 29.4 does not apply. As both spelling are used quite commonly, also Art. 29.5 cannot be applied. Therefore, the spelling that follows the rules explained in Art. 29 for the formation of family-group names is the correct one, which is Otomesostomidae Midelburg, 1908. [details]
