Validity Prior to 2014 no taxonomic source was found originating the combination Pherusa affinis, apparently derived from Siphonostomum affine Leidy, 1855, and in use in Appy et al (1980) and elsewhere. Then Salazar-Vallejo 2014 created a neotype for Siphonostoma affine and validated the combination Pherusa affinis [details]
