Diagnosis Extratentaular budding produces colonies of various shapes including vasiform, explanate, foliate, tabulate, encrusting, and hemispherical; corallites long, unifacially disposed; epitheca absent; septa arranged normally; columella well-developed, solid or spongy; zooxanthellate. [details]Remark This genus and family were monographed by Cairns (2001), which included a phylogenetic analysis based on morphology. 14 species, 6 known from the fossil record. [details]
