Taxonomic remark This record (from Morone saxatilis) requires confirmation as there are at least two other species of the genus occurring in marine teleosts off New England (see Stunkard 1980), i.e., L. areolatum (Linton, 1900) and L. trullaforme Linton, 1940. There has been considerable confusion between these species, some of which may be conspecific. L. areolatum has been previously recorded from another anadromous species of Morone. [details]
