Taxonomic remark Le nom correct de l’espèce est bien S. sagittifer et non S. socialis, comme l’ont fait remarquer Linton (1932) et Van Cleave et Lincicome 1940. Cette erreur, commise par Van Cleave (1924), a été répétée par Meyer (1931-32) puis par tous les auteurs, nous-même y compris. L’Acanthocéphale décrit par Leidy sous le nom d'Echinorhynchus socialis n’est autre qu’Echinorhynchus gadi O. F. Millier 1776. Ce nom ne peut donc servir à désigner l’espèce type du genre Serrasentis. [details]
