Description Whorled or curved plate-like sponge, 15-20 cm wide and high, which can form a cup with internal spirals at maturity. Tough woody stalk; surface with 2-3 mm wide radiating lines of low, rounded, sand-encrusted nodules separated by furrows. Oscules 1-2 mm, on only one face of blade. Body flexible, fibrous, tears easily longitudinal. Surface sandy; creamy grey-brown. Habitat: shallow sandy lagoons. Distribution: Indo-Pacific (Richmond, 1997). [details]
