Taxonomy This is an unlikely Ptilocaulis, as the spicules, according to the redescription by Topsent, are strongly curved oxeas. The habit as pictured in Topsent, 1932, reminds of Spongia muricata sensu Esper, 1794. Possibly this concerns a Trikentrion with rare or without triactine spicules. [details]
