Homonymy This combination is a junior secondary homonym of Gelliodes fibulata (sensu Schmidt, 1862). Since the latter senior secondary homonym is now accepted as Haliclona (Gellius) fibulata (Schmidt, 1862) the homonymy has been removed and Gelliodes fibulata (Carter, 1881) is accordingly accepted.
This combination is also a senior homonym of Gelliodes fibulata (sensu Ridley, 1884). It is generally assumed that these two homonyms belong to the same species, in fact making the record of Ridley's species not a proper homonym but a simple additional record of Carter's species. [details]
