Taxonomic remark Dall used name 'jeffreysi(i)' for northeast Atlantic specimens (Frenulina jeffreysii Dall, 1871, later named Megerlia jeffreysi Dall, 1873). In Dall (1877) he expanded the definition of Megerlia jeffreysi to include northeast Pacific specimens. Dall (1877), rather than Dall (1873 or 1871), seems to be the accepted taxonomic authority.
In Dall (1895) moved the species to Laqueus. By Dall (1920) he realized that the northeast Atlantic material (that originally bore the name jeffreysi) were juvenile Macandrevia cranium (Muller), with 'L. jeffreysi' realized to be Laqueus californicus vancouveriensis (now accepted as Laqueus vancouveriensis Davidson, 1887).
