Status Timea curvistellifera is transferred into Spirastrella, because according to the original description it is a thinly encrusting sponge that has no asters as typical for Timea, but an ectosomal crust of spirasters with robust, conical spines either terminally arranged or following the convex sides of the axis, which is congruent with Spirastrella.
