Taxonomic remark Schulgin (1885) describes this species being attached to stones and in rock crevices in the coastal waters off the Hyerian Islands (off Sardinia). It was a small (7 mm diameter) species with a rounded shape. It does not seem to have been assessed recently, species placed in Argiope have been re-allocated to several other genera, and it is unclear if this species is a synonym of one of the other Mediterranean taxa.
