The present paper deals with the taxonomy of the ostracod family Paradoxostomatidae Brady & Norman, 1889 from the coral reefs around Lizard Island, northern Great Barrier Reef, Australia. 18 species were found, all of them belonging to the genus Paradoxostoma . 2 species had been previously described from Heron Island, southern Great Barrier Reef. 1 species had been described from the Red Sea. 2 species are left in open nomenclature
