Synonymy Eiras et al. (2005) introduced the new name as replacement for Myxobolus anguilli (Fujita, 1929), assuming that as a new combination established by Landsberg & Lom, (1991), it would be preoccupied by Myxobolus anguilli Wu, 1977, but this is incorrect beacuse the latter is a junior homonym.[details]
