The paper lists over 300 interstitial animals inhabiting the beach sands of Waltair coast. Most of the forms are recorded for the first time from Indian waters. The occurrence of the fauna is given in relation to the texture of the substratum and the intertidal levels of the beach. The geographical distribution of the known species is indicated. The investigation has shown that many of the species recorded are cosmopolitan in distribution. A few remarks are made about the density of distribution of the representative groups of animals in the interstitial habitat of the sandy beach at Waltair.
