Classification This almost certainly a sponge, probably Halichondria (Halichondria) panicea, although the reference to Seba's pl. 97 figs 3-4 could also differently interpreted. Wilkens (1787) and Esper (1806) criticized Linnaeus' comparison with Seba's images as unrealistic.  [details]
