Description A family of Comatulida with cirri bearing spines or other prominences on their more distal segments in the median dorsal plane; ten or more arms in the adult, if more than 10 (as in the only species from southern Africa) then the IIBr series are mostly of four ossicles and there is a pinnule (Pd) on the second one; division series articulated either horizontally from the radials or more often obliquely upwards to some degree; oral pinnules without comb-like tips but with a basal crest along the dorsal surface or along the edge facing the arm tip, or both, the more distal pinnules not markedly prismatic and without conspicuous side and covering plates; mouth more or less centrally placed on the disc; sacculi present. [details]
