Bilaterocotyle spindalis n.sp. from the gills of Caranx kalla collected at Ratnagiri, India, is described and figured. It differs from the 2 other species of the genus (B. chirocentrosus and B. variabilis) in body shape, the haptor (which occupies nearly a third of the body length and the clamps are located in the caecal region), the structure of the clamps (the basal sclerites are absent), the number of spines (25 to 28) of the genital atrium, the shape of the ovary (rounded) and the position of the caecal union (close to the lappet). It further differs from B. variabilis in the absence of striae, and in the cirrus not being bifid.
