Description Colour: disc black or dark brown, aboral arm plates with a light border along the edges and sometimes a light central region. Description: disc scales with rounded granules, covering the radial shields. Aboral arm plates broader than long, lateral angles rounded. Five arm spines, flat, second from above longer than the breadth of the segment.
Also distributed in Maldive area, north Australia, Philippine, China, south Japan, South Pacific Is. and Hawaiian Is. (Clark & Rowe, 1971).; Australia (Rowe & Gates, 1995); Lakshadweep (India) in Sastry (1991).
Ecology: benthic, inshore (Rowe & Gates, 1995).
General distribution: tropical, Indo-Pacific Ocean, depth range 0-35 m. (Rowe & Gates, 1995); East coast of Africa to Hawaiian Islands in Sastry (1991). [details]
