Description Colour in life: uniform grey-brown with pale brown banding on the arms, ventrally off-white overall (Sloan et al., 1979. Description: arm length to 18 mm, disc diameter to 4.5 mm. Small, delicate species with both dorsal and ventral surfaces of the disc covered with spines, which may be replaced or interspersed with flat-topped granules. Colour grey to brown with arms banded. Habitat: among coral branches or under coral.
General distribution: tropical, west-central Pacific, Indo-Malayan Region, western Indian Ocean, depth range 0-26 m. (Rowe & Gates, 1995); WIO, Red Sea to W Pacific (Richmond, 1998).
Also distributed in South Pacific Is. (Clark & Rowe, 1971); Australia (Rowe & Gates, 1995).
