Description The cells are slightly dorso-ventrally flattened, 17.5-35 μm (25.9 ± 5.5, n = 50) long, 10-22.5 (21.1 ± 4.3, n = 50) wide. The epicone is hemispherical. The hypocone is hemispherical to slightly truncated, with a concavity or indentation at the antapex. The cingulum is deeply incised, displaced about 22 % of the body length (22.06 ± 1.6, n = 6). The sulcus, which extends from the antapex to the cingulum but does not continue beyond the epi-cingular border, is relatively narrow but gradually wider at the antapex. The left sulcal border has a distinct indentation, the right epi-sulcal border is either straight or slightly deflected to the left and may have a small distal protuberance. A straight apical groove is situated slightly to the right of the sulcal axis and extends about two-thirds down the dorsal side of the epicone. The cell contains about 30 yellow-green, round, chloroplasts, each with a pyrenoid. A large, round nucleus. The central part of the cell is surrounded by a nuclear capsule. [details]
