Classification Genus Aberranta Hartman 1965 was placed as Spioniformia incertae sedis in Fauchald (1976). Wolf (1984) suggested the genus may be intermediate to Paraonidae and Spionidae. However, more recent analyses including molecular data (eg Worsaae et al. 2005) have examined the Aberrantidae for their placement in Aciculata and possible relationship to Nerillidae and Eunicida. The placement is currently unresolved, but the original Spionida placement is rejected. [details]
