Socarnes unidentatus has been placed in the genus Socarnoides (HURLEY, 1963; BARNARD & KARAMAN, 1991), again probably because of the incised inner rarnus of uropod 2. The species is poorly described and illustrated, but based on the illustration of the epistome/upper lip it should not be considered as a Socarnoides and is more likely to be in the genus Socarnes.
