The samples collected by Grua include 58 specimens of which 9 were hydroids and 20 polyzoa. The material gathered in deep sea diving was easily detached by hand and brought to the surface in perfect condition. A certain number of these specimens are cosmopolitan and well known for a long time, on the other hand some of them are new to the Kerguelen islands. The ecological conditions of these islands have a very definite influence on 3 hydroids. These are so different from their equivalents from the Northern Hemisphere that some authors have defined them as new spp. Why these spp must fall in synonymy is explained.
