Adelodrilus pusillus sp.n. and Adelodrilus cooki sp.n, are described from Scandinavian marine waters. Studies on the type material of Adelodrilus anisosetosus Cook and Adelodriloides voraginus Cook necessitate the consideration of the genus Adelodriloides Cook, 1970 as a synonym to Adelodrilus Cook, 1969. Adelodrilus is defined by its principal organization of male genitalia: relatively short, wide and thin-walled vasa deferentia; small, compact, pear-shaped atria; two pairs of pedunculate prostate glands attached to atria; highly modified penial setae. In addition to the new species, morphological notes are given for A. anisosetosus Cook, A. voraginus (Cook) comb.n., A. kiselevi (Finogenova) comb.n., and A. borcei (Hrabe) comb.n, The species are morphologically distinguished from each other mainly by the appearance of the penial setae. The relation of Adelodrilus to other Tubificidae is discussed. The genus appears most closely related to Phallodrilus Pierantoni.
