Taxonomy The taxonoic position of this species is by no means clear, although Ramil & Vervoort (2006) placed it in the genus Nemertesia. This was somewhat arbitrary as the plumes have only two rows of hydrocladia and could as well be regarded as a Plumularia species. If so, Frasers original name Plumularia mutabilis Fraser, 1948 would remain valid. [details]
