Synonymy De Assis et al (2022: 10 of 22) state that "Macroclymenella is a junior synonym of Clymenella, and thus, M. stewartensis Augener, 1926, must thus be recognized as Clymenella stewartensis comb. nov." They emphasise the presence of a chaetiger 4 collar in M stewartensis the same as in all (they state) species of Clymenella. According to Verrill (1873) in Clymenella, type species Clymene torquatus Leidy, 1855, the "anterior margin of the fourth setigerous segment is prolonged into a thin membranous collar." [details]
