Classification Created by Fauvel in Acoetinae as a subfamily of Aphroditidae, but Fauchald 1977:66 and Pettibone 1989:5-7 treated the genus as a junior synonym of Sthenelanella in Sigalionidae. Pettibone wrote that "Based on the original description, it appears that P. eylathae should be referred to the family Sigalionidae, close to Sthenelanella J. Moore, 1910, as revised by Pettibone (1969:431). According to a taxonomic note by Fauchald (l977: 66), Pseudeupanthalis Fauvel appears to be synonymous with Sthenelanella" Note that Pettibone 1969 overlooked Pseudeupanthalis when she first revised Sthenelanella [details]
