Synonymy In her introduction Pettibone (1997) places Eupholoe McIntosh 1885 as a synonym of Pelogenia Schmarda 1861. She states that "Mclntosh (1885) erected the genus Eupholoe for E. philippensis from the Philippine Islands. Here, Eupholoe Mclntosh is referred to Pelogenia Schmarda, and the type species is referred to P. philippensis (Mclntosh), new combination." Later, under the presentation on Pelogenia genus, she forgets to include Eupholoe formally as a synonym of Pelogenia, but a new Pelogenia combination is created for the Eupholoe type species, Eupholoe phiippensis. Thus Eupholoe must be a synonym of Pelogenia. [details]
