Synonymy Day (1957) moves Schistocomus hiltoni to Phyllocomus. As S. hiltoni is the type of Schistocomus this automatically means Schistocomus is a synonym of Phyllocomus. Day (1964) later formally presents Schistocomus as a junior synonym of Phyllocomus. However, Reuscher et al (2009) included Schistocomus as valid in a table of Ampharetinae genera, and there are some other usages since Day which continued with the combination Schistocomus hiltoni. According to Sui et al (2017) Reuscher currently agrees with Day that Schistocomus is not distinct from Phyllocomus. [details]
