Authority Hartman Catalogue attributed the authority to "Otto in Audouin and Milne Edwards, 1832". However, this is seriously misleading if taken literally as Hartman just meant she found the name in Audouin and Milne Edwards and saw it was attributed to Otto, but she didn't know of Otto's 1821 work, or that the spelling was correctly "heptakera". Obviously Otto had nothing to do with this misspelling. [details]Spelling Audouin & Milne Edwards commented that Otto "sous le nom bizarre d'Aphrodita hoptakero" had collected a variety of Aphrodita hystrix. However, they made their own bizarre mistake in the spelling of Otto's name. It should have been "heptakera". Also Otto's specimens came from Nice, not Bay of Naples as they state. [details]
